Rings: Poesy Rings

Nagle Forge & Foundry's Poesy Rings are each available in one size only. We currently offer five Poesy Rings in five different sizes: The Knightly Chaucer Poesy Ring -sz. 10, the fiery Spenser Poesy Ring -sz. 7, the sweetly romantic Sidney Poesy Ring -sz. 5 1/4, the inspiringly dreamy Shakespeare Poesy Ring -sz. 10 and the very dear Robert Burns Poesy Ring -sz. 7.

Regardless of size (each ring is available in only one size) the cost for our sterling silver poesy rings (regardless of design) is currently $135.-. These prices are subject to change due to fluctuating precious metals markets.

Each poesy, or inscription, runs nearly continuously around the exterior band of the ring. The poesys themselves are cast into the rings. [The masters were hand carved in sizes we felt were most suitable for the length of the inscription and the individual inscriptions were deeply engraved into each master in a process that took several days.]

As the inscriptions are cast into each band it is extremely unlikely that the engraving will wear away or be damaged by a lifetime's wear. As the process we use to design our masters is so time consuming (each ring is a different size, each master is hand carved, each inscription is a different length, each script-style is subtly different) we decided to use our skill and time to make a variety of different inscriptions in a few different sizes rather than attempting to alter a single inscription in order to be appropriate for several different sized rings.

Each ring is cast out of Sterling Silver (although we would be happy to quote you the cost of a ring in 14k Gold as a special order) and is hand polished and finished. The bands are comfort bands (this means that the interior of the band is slightly rounded) and although fairly wide (each band is approx. 6mm wide) are simple enough to be suitable for every day wear. All of our rings are handcrafted in the United States of America.

Chaucer: Truth and honor, freedom and courtesy
Spenser: two living lamps did flame
Sidney: My dear, my better half.
Shakespeare: To unpathed waters, undreamed shores.
Burns: dear to me as light and life
