Nagle Forge & Foundry is a small family operated casting company that specializes in crafting historically inspired and limited edition jewelry and clothing fasteners from the finest lead free pewter, bronze, sterling silver, or 14k gold. All of our work is handcrafted in the United States. We take enormous pride in our work and as a point of honor guarantee the integrity of our work. Our pieces bear the mark of Nagle Forge & Foundry, and we stand by our name. We fully intend that our pieces will give pleasure not only to you, but to the generations that follow you. If you break or damage one of our pieces, we will fix it or replace it.
As a courtesy, we also provide custom design and casting services for Clans, Clubs, Bands, Events, companies and organizations interested in creating a quality commemorative item.
Many of our pieces are based on historical designs and motifs from the Renaissance and earlier.
[Or, later. For instance: Many of our Scottish Plaid Pins and smaller brooches are made in the ‘traditional’ styles of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Many of our Plaid Pins are meant to look like the pin that grandfather or great-grandfather brought over the ocean to North America in the 1880s or ’90s: The pin that everyone loved, but only one cousin could inherit.]
Some of our pieces are based on specific historical pieces and others are inspired by those pieces. We are proud to be able to give new life to old and new designs alike. Although we do not have a permanent store or a printed catalog, we do display our work at a number of Renaissance Faires, Celtic Festivals, and Scottish Games throughout the United States. [Some of our work is also carried by a select group of independent stores and catalogs throughout North America… if you are interested in finding a retailer in your area that carries Nagle Forge & Foundry pieces please contact us directly or click on our Retailer’s Links page.]
We make hundreds of different pieces, many of which are one-of-a-kind. We have chosen to present only a small selection for your online viewing and ease of purchase. (For instance; Only eleven Kilt Pins –better known as Plaid Brooches are featured on our website but, over the course of a year, we generally produce over one hundred different Kilt Pin designs. And, to further complicate the situation, our kilt pins are not actually kilt pins: They are Plaid Brooches.) The selection of pieces on our web site is wholly arbitrary and represents a scattered sampling of some new and old favorites. If you wish to see our full display we urge you to come see us in person. (Please take a moment to look at our event calendar. We update it frequently and we may be at an event in your area.) If that is not possible, we will be happy to help you online and ship your selections to you.
As our website is primarily intended to provide a brief overview of our line, we do not have a direct ordering system set up. If there is an item you are interested in, or would like to purchase, please e-mail us. (There is an e-mail link included with every product description.) You may also telephone us from 9-4 Pacific time. As we are often busy in the workshop please be prepared to leave a message on our answering machine.
We can accept credit card information over the phone, or we can provide you with a total (including tax and shipping) and you can mail us a check. We try to ship all purchases within two weeks of receiving the order. (The only exceptions to this rule are our Roman-style, Seal, Greenman, Wedding and Engagement rings. They are custom items and generally require 8-12 weeks to complete.) All of our pieces are tucked in a velvet bag which also bears our mark, with a card or gift enclosure, and we ship them in a sturdy mailing box.
